Bike Maintenance Class

Module 1: Tires and Tubes

Bike Walk Indian River County, Inc's Bike Rehab Project is presenting a series of bike maintenance classes in 2022.  Pre-registration is required.  All classes are open to the public on a first come first serve basis.  Class size is limited.

This first class will cover the following topics relating to tires and tubes:

  1. Technical Resources
  2. Tools and Spares
  3. Schrader Versus Presta Valves
  4. Removing Wheels from Bike
  5. Removing Tire from Wheel (including single side removal versus full removal)
  6. Diagnosing Cause of Flat
  7. Tube Replacement Versus Patching
  8. Remounting Existing Tire
  9. Replacing Tire(s)
  10. Tire Pressure

Classes will be held outside at BWIRC's warehouse located directly behind Orchid Island Bikes and Kayaks, just off 12th Street in Vero (just west of the US 1 WaWa).   Anyone who is not fully vaccinated and boosted must wear a mask.

Riding to the class is encouraged so that you will have your bike with you. Having your bike at the class may help your understanding of the material being presented.

If you drive a car to the class, please park in the Dollar Tree/Staples parking lot across Commerce Avenue as onsite parking is very limited.  If you drive to the class you may still want to bring your bike with you.
