This is a special Vero Cycling ride to celebrate World Car Free Day. We are meeting at the South Beach Park overflow parking lot for an 8:15 am ride start.  The overflow parking lot is on the west side of Ocean Drive immediately across from the South Beach Park east side parking lot.

We will ride as a group to the GoLine Transit Hub on 16th Street for the 9 am Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Bike Walk Indian River County bike workstation that was recently installed at the Transit Hub. After the ceremony some groups may ride extra miles before returning to the ride start or riding home.

If you are so inclined, please ride your bike to the ride start rather than driving your bike in your car.  After all, it is World Car-Free Day.

This ride is open to the public.  Please invite neighbors/friends to join us.   Let's show the community the we like to ride our bikes!

Please register for this ride ASAP so I can provide a head count to the Senior Resource Center for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony,

This workstation is one of five workstations being installed locally as part of Bike Walk Indian River County's Pump Us Up program.  Bike Walk Indian River County, led by Pump Us Up program chair Laura Aaron, raised approximately $9,000 for the five workstations.  Orchid Island Bike and Kayaks donated 100% of the labor required to assemble and install all five workstations.  The principle donors for the Transit Hub workstation were:

  • Dyer Subaru
  • Orchid Islands Bike and Kayaks
  • People for Bikes
  • Sunrise Rotary of Vero Beach
